God*s Power Makes Evangelism Easy

Acts 1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Romans 1:16: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. So why do we neglect to share it? Often it is because we feel inadequate and, of course, we are totally inadequate. But the fact that we are inadequate is irrelevant. Since what is needed in salvation is the power of God (the gospel) we have no excuse not to proclaim it.

Jonah 2:9b: . . . Salvation is of the LORD.

There are a whole lot of things that must happen in salvation that we mortals have no control over. Ultimately there is nothing in salvation that we have control over. If one is to be saved he must be chosen by God, not us. If one is to be saved, God, not us, must prepare that heart to receive Jesus. If one is to be saved here and now, God, not us, must choose this place and this time. If I am to be the one to plant a seed in that person*s heart, God, not me, must decide that. If I am to be the one God uses to water a seed, He must decide that. If I am to be the one to reap the harvest and hear that one pray to receive Christ, God must decide that. If we are to plant, water or reap on fertile or infertile ground is up to God, not us. In any of those matters (planting, watering or reaping) God must put the chosen one and me in the right place at the right time. We are ALWAYS in a place where we ought to serve God and we are ALWAYS in a moment when we ought to serve Him.

What we need to learn is God*s purpose for our being in a particular place at a particular time with a particular person. We can learn that by simply asking questions of the people we encounter. (See the Bible studies on How To Win A Soul.) When we are with someone else we will always be in the right time and place to fellowship, plant, water or reap. If the individual we are with is not open to hearing the gospel we are in the right place to plant a seed or do some watering. We can quote an appropriate verse from the Bible or we can tell them what God has done for us.

We must trust the power of the Gospel, the power of the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit of God at all times. They WILL accomplish God*s will.

2 Timothy 4:2: Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Hebrews 4:12: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Isaiah 55:11: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
